Collection: Golden Hills Turquoise Collection

Why collectors chase it

Born in Kazakhstan’s Altyn-Tyube (“Golden Hill”) region, Golden Hills turquoise is prized for its unmistakable periwinkle-to-icy lavender blues contrasted by a burnt-umber to chocolate matrix—a colorway almost unseen in natural turquoise.

What makes it rare

Mining is possible only in a short seasonal window due to extreme winters and flooding, which restricts output and keeps high-grade material genuinely scarce. That limited availability—plus the mine’s remote location—drives demand among top Western artisans and collectors. Although turquoise has been worked for millennia, Golden Hills is a newer discovery (widely cited around 2013) and reached U.S. markets only in the last decade—one reason it still feels fresh, modern, and highly collectible.

Characteristics You’ll See in Golden Hills Turquoise

Signature color: pastel lavender/periwinkle to baby-blue bodies with striking reddish-brown to umber matrix. No two stones look alike.

Single-origin story: sourced from Altyn-Tyube, Kazakhstan (often nicknamed “Desert Lavender” or “Kazakhstan turquoise”).

Limited production: short winter mining season; careful extraction to preserve quality.

Our Promise

Every piece in the Golden Hills Collection is set in solid sterling silver with careful attention to stone stability, polish, and orientation—curated to showcase the mine’s ethereal blues and dramatic matrix. Pair a statement cuff with Navajo pearls for elevated Western style, or choose a minimalist pendant that lets the stone’s color do the talking.
