Virginia Sandoval, a Navajo silversmith, created this cuff bangle combining twisted sterling silver wire construction with a single turquoise stone setting. Twisted wire bangles are a traditional Navajo silversmithing form in which silver wire is twisted and formed into a continuous bangle — a technique related to the wire-working tradition developed by Navajo smiths in the late 19th century through influence from Mexican and Spanish silversmithing.
