Square Repoussé Concho in Sterling Silver, Navajo

A Navajo silversmith created this square sterling silver concho using the repoussé technique — hammering raised relief patterns from the reverse of the silver sheet to create a dimensional surface. The concho form has been central to Navajo silversmithing since the 19th century, when Navajo smiths adapted Spanish colonial silver disc designs originally used on horse bridles and belts. Square conchos are less common than the traditional oval form, giving this piece a geometric distinction. Available exclusively through Turquoise Mustang.
