Refined Stamp and OverlayCuff with Freeform Pilot Mountain, by Leon Martinez

This is a lovely piece by renowned Navajo artist Leon Martinez.  

Using a fabulous looking cut of natural Pilot Mountain turquoise, Leon kept the sterling work somewhat clean, fresh and poignant so as to highlight and accentuate this stunning natural stone.  The rock is just over 3.50cm x just under 2.50cm ,so this is a perfect sized stone for a feminine wrist!

Its golden and chocolate brown matrix perfectly accents the rich blue-green turquoise color, which pulsates with subtle color changes. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Leon’s work, this is an artist that happened to come in a time, when using only ‘natural-premium quality’ turquoise was of extreme importance, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he uses this quality of stone.

This is made as traditional Navajo as Navajo jewelry gets and is entirely made by hand. So all those little peyote burst accents that follow the shape of the stone, Leon made each & everyone of those, where he melts the sterling into beads, so they can then be carefully placed in precise order around the stone. All are hand stamped. On the east & west side of the cut are two "V"-shields’ that give a subtle "edge" to the design.
