Multi-Mine Turquoise Mosaic Inlay Cuff by R. Bennett, Navajo
Multi-Mine Turquoise Mosaic Inlay Cuff by R. Bennett, Navajo
R. Bennett, a Navajo silversmith, created this extraordinary mosaic inlay cuff using four distinct American turquoise varieties — King's Manassa from Conejos County, Colorado; Royston from Lander County, Nevada; Number Eight from Elko County, Nevada; and Dry Creek from Lander County, Nevada — each with a unique color signature ranging from apple-green to sky-blue to soft white.
Mosaic inlay requires hand-cutting each stone to fit flush within a recessed silver channel, and combining four mines in one piece is an advanced collector-grade technique. Number Eight turquoise is among the rarest American turquoise, as the mine closed in the 1970s.
