This vintage 27-30 inch heishi jacla necklace combines turquoise, shell, and coral heishi beads in the traditional Pueblo heishi format. Heishi — from the Santo Domingo word for shell — refers to disc beads ground flat from shell, stone, or coral, a technique practiced by Santo Domingo Pueblo artisans for over a thousand years.
