Ira Johnson, a Navajo silversmith, created these twisted dangle earrings combining turquoise and coral in sterling silver. The pairing of turquoise and red coral is one of the foundational color combinations in Navajo jewelry — turquoise representing sky and water, coral representing earth and blood — and has been used together in Navajo silverwork since the 19th century.
