Repoussé Rectangular Sterling Silver Earrings by Tom Charley, Navajo

Tom Charley, a Navajo silversmith, created these rectangular sterling silver earrings with raised repoussé detail and clean silver borders. Repoussé involves hammering relief patterns from the reverse side of the silver sheet, creating raised surface forms — one of the most demanding techniques in Navajo silversmithing because corrections are difficult once the metal is worked.
