Number Eight Turquoise Tufa Cast Stampwork Cuff by Robert Delgarito, Navajo
Number Eight Turquoise Tufa Cast Stampwork Cuff by Robert Delgarito, Navajo
Robert Delgarito, a Navajo silversmith, produced this cuff using the tufa casting technique — carving a design into soft volcanic tufa stone and pouring molten sterling silver into the mold — then setting a large oval Number Eight turquoise at center with surrounding stampwork detail. Number Eight turquoise from Elko County, Nevada is distinguished by its soft blue-green color and intricate golden web matrix; the mine closed in the 1970s making existing stones increasingly rare. The organic texture left by the tufa mold is preserved on the cuff's surface as a hallmark of the casting process. Available exclusively through Turquoise Mustang.
