Number Eight Turquoise Tufa Cast Cuff by Roland Dixson, Navajo
Number Eight Turquoise Tufa Cast Cuff by Roland Dixson, Navajo
Roland Dixson, a Navajo silversmith, produced this cuff using the tufa cast technique — carving a design directly into soft tufa volcanic stone, pouring molten silver into the mold, and hand-finishing the resulting cast. Number Eight turquoise, set as the focal stone, comes from the Number Eight mine in Elko County, Nevada, and is prized for its distinctive golden-web matrix against soft blue-green color. The Number Eight mine ceased production in the 1970s, making genuine Number Eight turquoise increasingly rare in contemporary Native American jewelry. Cuff size 7 inches with 2-inch opening. Available exclusively through Turquoise Mustang.
