Sonoran Gold Turquoise Ingot Stampwork Cuff by Calvin Martinez, Navajo

Calvin Martinez, a Navajo silversmith, forged this cuff from a solid silver ingot and decorated it with traditional Navajo stampwork, setting a Sonoran Gold turquoise stone as the focal point. Sonoran Gold turquoise is mined in Sonora, Mexico, and is prized for its vivid combination of bright turquoise-blue and golden-yellow pyrite matrix — one of the most visually distinctive turquoise varieties available. Ingot silversmithing is a traditional Navajo technique in which silver is melted and poured into molds, then hammered and shaped — producing pieces with greater density and heft than sheet silver fabrication.
