New Lander Turquoise Repoussé Cuff by Gene Nataan, Navajo
Gene Nataan, a Navajo silversmith, created this repoussé cuff centered on a large oval New Lander turquoise cabochon. New Lander turquoise — also known as High Grade Lander Blue — comes from the Lander Blue mine in Lander County, Nevada, and is among the rarest and most valuable American turquoise. The mine was extremely small and produced for only a brief period; genuine New Lander is characterized by a tight black spider-web matrix against vivid sky-blue turquoise and is consistently among the highest-priced American turquoise in the collector market. Repoussé involves hammering raised relief patterns from the reverse of the silver. Available exclusively through Turquoise Mustang.
