Bennie Bowakaty, a Zuni silversmith, carved a split racetrack design into volcanic tufa stone molds and cast molten sterling silver to produce this minimalist cuff with parallel outer rails and a central bridge. This is Bowakaty's second split racetrack design, distinguished from his other by the specific proportions and bridge placement — each tufa mold is unique and never reused, making every piece one-of-a-kind. Tufa casting is an ancient Southwest silversmithing technique that produces a matte, granular surface texture that cannot be replicated with modern investment casting.
