Wild Horse Magnesite and Red Coral Cluster Ring, Adjustable, by Peterson Johnson, Navajo
Peterson Johnson, a Navajo silversmith, set a Wild Horse magnesite oval center stone surrounded by 11 red coral cabochons on this adjustable sterling silver cluster ring. Wild Horse magnesite is mined in Arizona by the San Carlos Apache Tribe — it is a white magnesite with dark brown or black dendritic matrix patterns resembling a wild horse's markings, and is technically not turquoise but is used extensively in Native American jewelry. Red coral has been used in Navajo silverwork since the 19th century as one of the three most valued materials alongside turquoise and shell. Available exclusively through Turquoise Mustang.
