Orange Spiny Oyster Shield Pendant by J. Nelson, Navajo

J. Nelson, a Navajo silversmith, set a shield-shaped orange spiny oyster stone in sterling silver with a hand-stamped border on this pendant. Spiny oyster (Spondylus) shell from the Sea of Cortez has been traded across the American Southwest for over a thousand years. The shield form references the classic Navajo concho shape adapted to pendant format. Measures approximately 2.25" long, 1.25" wide. Bale: 10mm. Available exclusively through Turquoise Mustang.
