About the Artist

Darryl Becenti is a Diné (Navajo) silversmith and lapidary who has developed a distinctive body of work that spans both large-scale cuff making and intimate pendant work. As a lapidary, Becenti selects and cuts many of his own stones, which explains the unusual variety of materials that appear in his pendants: Blue Moon turquoise, New Lander Mine turquoise, labradorite, moonstone, Kingman ceremonial turquoise. These are not the materials of a silversmith who orders standard calibrated stones — they are the stones of someone who understands geology and cuts for character.

Stylistic Hallmarks
